Bronze is the New Steel: Why Colourful Kitchen Appliances Are on Trend
Cooking is fun, so give your kitchen the personality of cooking by choosing colourful kitchen appliances that are currently on trend.

Remember the kitchen appliances of the 1970s, when pots, pans, and even fridges and ovens came in neutral tones of beige and brown, along with flecks of harvest gold, avocado green, and orange?

You could say that things toned down after that.

In the ’80 and ‘90s, black and white became the colours du jour, while this past decade saw the entrance of the industrial stainless steel cooking appliance, fridge and dishwasher.

In this modern day and age, people are starting to decorate their homes with a lot more colour.

Kitchens are especially starting to brighten up. Canadian appliances are now coming in bold colours such as orange crush (yes the colour of the pop), crimson red, robin egg and royal blue.

Here, we look at some best appliances’ brands that are offering ways to colour your kitchen:

Colour of the Year

Red is the first thing you think of when you think of KitchenAid appliances. One of the first companies to go bold with their countertop appliances such as stand-up mixers, toasters, food processors, hand and standing blenders, KitchenAid has a number of colour options available besides red.

That is no more apparent than in KitchenAid’s newest tone, which was named as the company’s inaugural Color of the Year for 2018. The glossy coral finish, named Bird of Paradise, is coming to an appliance warehouse and outlet near you.

Some other newest additions to KitchenAid’s colourific small appliance series include:

  • Blue velvet (light blue matte)
  • Dried rose (matte pink)
  • Shaded palm (matte emerald)
  • Crimson red (glossy deep red)

Bronze is the Winner

While black stainless steel was still making waves, the folks over at Whirlpool appliances were thinking of ways to brighten up the rather lacklustre finish, while keeping it smudge and fingerprint proof. The result was sunset bronze, a warmer tone that is not far from the iPhone’s rose gold colour.

Whirlpool’s new sunset bronze kitchen suite is available in:

  • French door refrigerators
  •  24” dishwashers
  • Slide-in True Convection electric and gas ranges
  • Electric True Convection wall ovens
  • Over-the range convection microwaves
  • Kitchen ventilation: Wall mounted range hoods

A Rainbow of Ranges

Cooking will never be a drab experience when you use Viking appliances to whip up your favourite meals. Although they still offer their classic white and stainless steel appliances, Viking is also at the forefront of bringing some pretty bright and bold colours to its line of cook ranges using a shiny enamel finish.

Some of their most popular colours include:

  • Cobalt blue
  • Mint Julep
  • Pumpkin
  • Racing red
  • Burgundy
  • Plum
  • Apple red
